Student guide
Quick answers about finding work, hiring, privacy, and safety on Jobingo.
This guide is for students and young people using Jobingo in Houston. For the full walkthrough, see How it works. Employers can also use the notes at the end of this page.
1. Who can use Jobingo?
Students and young people in the Houston area who are 16 or older. We check age once, privately, so we can show you jobs you are eligible for.
2. Does it cost anything?
No. Jobingo is free for students. No real employer will ever ask you to pay to apply, buy equipment up front, or share bank login details. Report anyone who does.
3. What do employers see when I apply?
Your application name, short introduction, availability, experience, skills, answers to their questions, and your résumé if you attach one. They see whether you meet the job’s minimum age — never your birth date or exact address.
4. How does the schedule fit work?
Add your weekly availability once on your profile. Every listing then explains which of its shifts work for you. It is a guide, not a filter — you can apply to anything you are eligible for.
5. Can I withdraw an application?
Yes. Open the application and choose Withdraw. The employer is told you withdrew. You do not have to give a reason.
6. How do I download or delete my data?
Go to Settings. You can download everything we hold about you, and request correction or deletion.
7. For employers
How long does verification take?
Usually one business day. You can draft listings while you wait; they are reviewed once your business is verified.
Why was my listing sent back?
Our reviewers check for clear pay, accurate hours, appropriate minimum ages, and safety. The note on your listing explains what to change.
Can my managers help hire?
Yes. Owners can invite hiring managers (who can post jobs and make decisions) and reviewers (who can read and mark applications reviewed), limited to specific workplaces.
What happens when I edit a live listing?
Small edits apply straight away. Changes to pay, schedule, or requirements create a new version; people who already applied keep the version they saw and are told about the change.
How do I close a job?
From the job page, choose Close or Mark as filled. Open applications stay visible so you can let applicants know.
8. Still need help?
Use the “Report a problem” link on any listing or message, or email support@jobingo.example. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911.
