How it works
A plain-language guide for students and young people using Jobingo in Houston.
Jobingo is a marketplace for first jobs. You can browse Houston listings for free. You make a profile when you want to apply, save a job, or message an employer.
This page is the student guide. For hiring, see Hire with Jobingo. For safety, see Safety.
1. Explore opportunities
Browse by interest, ZIP code, the days you can work, and age. You do not need an account just to look. Each listing shows pay, typical hours, minimum age, and whether experience is required.
2. Find your fit
If you add weekly availability to your profile, Jobingo explains how a job’s shifts line up with a school week. That is a guide, not a score, and it does not lock you out of applying. You must be 16 or older. Birth dates stay private. Employers only see whether you meet a job’s minimum age.
3. Apply and follow up
Many employers accept applications on Jobingo. Some send you to their own website — we say so clearly. Either way, never pay to apply, never share bank logins, and keep hiring conversations on Jobingo until you are hired.
After you apply, you can track the status, message the employer, and withdraw if you change your mind. The employer is told that you withdrew. You do not have to give a reason.
4. What employers see
When you apply, the employer typically sees your application name, introduction, availability, experience, skills, answers to their questions, and a résumé if you attach one. They do not see your birth date, exact home address, or password.
5. For employers
Businesses create an account, describe the workplace, and draft a listing with pay, shifts, and age. We review the business and the listing before students see it. Then the team can message, interview, and keep hiring in one place.
